About Inspire

A Practice of Professionals

Inspire’s weight loss programs were developed by internationally recognized psychologists, physiologists and psychiatrists who are also practicing clinicians. The practice is led by Medical Director, Dr. William Ciganek and the founders of Insight Psychological Centers, Dr. Susan McClanahan and Dr. Jenny Conviser.

Every director of Inspire is on the faculty of Northwestern University. Drs. Ciganek and Conviser also serve on the staff of Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Inspire’s leadership has more than 60 years of experience helping people change their minds and physiology.

William Ciganek, MD
William Ciganek, MD
Dr. William Ciganek is a board-certified psychiatrist on the staff of Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, and a Clinical Instructor at the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University. He has worked in the treatment of eating disorders and obesity since his residency and has served as a consultant for Insight Psychological Centers since its founding. Dr. Ciganek earned his M.D. from Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine.
Jenny H. Conviser, Psy.D.
Jenny Conviser, Psy.D.
Dr. Jenny H. Conviser is a licensed clinical psychologist and certified sport psychologist specializing in eating disorders, weight management, sport psychology and women’s issues.
Dr. Conviser is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University and serves on staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She completed an Internship in Behavioral Medicine at the University of Chicago Hospitals and she served as a staff psychologist at the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation’s Weight Management and Eating Disorders Program for over 10 years.
Dr. Conviser has provided expert speaking and consultation on and off screen for CBS, NBC, Oprah Studio and WTTW’s Chicago Tonight. Dr. Conviser enjoys donating time for community advocacy, wellness programming and student health and prevention initiatives for local schools, hospitals and community organizations.
Dr. Conviser most recently co-authored "Insights on Exercise" 2011, Healthy Learning, Monterey, California.
Susan F. McClanahan, Ph.D.
Susan McClanahan, Ph.D.
Dr. Susan F. McClanahan is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the treatment of anorexia, bulimia and compulsive overeating. She is a clinical instructor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Feinberg School of Medicine, at Northwestern University, where she supervises and teaches graduate and medical students.
She lectures on eating disorders to medical students, professional organizations and the general public. Dr. McClanahan was the program coordinator and staff psychologist for Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation’s Weight and Eating Disorders Program for seven years.
She frequently works with clients struggling with depressive and anxiety disorders and she is an expert in the psychological aspects of pregnancy and infertility.
Dr. McClanahan holds a B.A. in Psychology from Duke University, a M.A. in Developmental Psychology from Columbia University in New York City, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Northwestern University Medical School.
